Can babies lose hair due to shampooing their hair?

My boyfriend swears the reason our 4 month old daughter who was born with a full head of hair who is losing her hair because when we give her a bath we wash her hair with johnsons baby shampoo and the ';scrubbing'; of her head is making it fall out. (which keep in mind its not scrubbing more like just a little massage to get the shampoo on the whole head and rinse) Can this be true? I was always just told all babie lose their hair but it gows back...but he wont believe me!Can babies lose hair due to shampooing their hair?
Babies often lose their first hair. My daughter (now 6 years old) was born with a full head of black hair. Her hair was stunning. I live in Sweden (I'm married to a swedish guy). When my daughter was 4 months old I decided to travel to Scotland with her so that all my relatives and friends could see my wee one at last. A couple of weeks before we travelled, she started to lose her hair. When the day came to travel she only had half a head of hair. A couple of weeks later all her hair had gone and her new (light brown) had started to come in.

Her hair is still beautiful - but I remember the shock of her hair coming out so quickly in these early days..... It really was quite dramatic and if I hadn't been prepared for this happening it would have been traumatic too.

Here is a website with information about hair loss in babies:

http://www.babycenter.com/0_hair-loss_85鈥?/a>Can babies lose hair due to shampooing their hair?
maybe the baby has that dirt thing i forgot what it called, so when u was da baby hair the hair would fall out. thats wat happen to my son, and now its so long.
You are right. Newborns often lose their ';newborn'; hair and it grows back. It's not because you are scrubbing it off.
everyone had hair b4 you ';real hair'; grows in but you have ';peach fuzz'; that needs to fall of and ';tell you new hair where to grow';

Why ';NO TEARS SHAMPOO'; for Babies only ???

Why don't the Shampoo making company come out with NO TEARS SHAMPOO for Adults too?

Agreed we can bear a little discomfort in our Eyes, But still it's better to have all adult Shampoos with the NO MORE TEARS formula. Why ';NO TEARS SHAMPOO'; for Babies only ???
Those formulas just have a chemical in them that numbs the eyes, they don't clean any less well.

As for adults using that formula - they assume that you are mature enough to close your eyes when you wash your hair. Why ';NO TEARS SHAMPOO'; for Babies only ???
HA..........HA............... GOOD QUESTION. WE THE ADULTS KNOW WHEN SHAMPOO ENTER OUR EYE WE WILL RINSE IT OFF AND IT WILL CAUSE NO DAMAGE. BUT BABIES THEY WILL EVEN CRY TO TAKE BATH WE DONT WHAT FOR THEY ARE CRYING SO THEY ARE USING NO MORE TEARS SHAMPOO . IF YOU WANT YOU CAN ALSO USE THAT IS NOT FOR ONLY BABIES
use it if you want to
For the same reason for which Diapers are only for babies.
because it doesn't clean ur hair as well the stuff that stings ur eyes helps to get dirt and oil out of ur hair
you know.. actually i think they do have a shampoo has a ';no tears'; formula.. i cant remember the name but i THINKK that it was a garnier fructis shampoo
I know it seems ridicules, but the idea is when the babies cry its so hard while bathing making them stop,by the way I use the baby shampoos cause they are the best the make my hair look good. They said its for babies but they didn't say its NOT for adults!!
Anybody can use a baby shampoo, but most adults will find that it isn't a strong enough detergent to effectively clean away all the dirt and grease and styling products.
because baby is fragile and don't know how to clean the shampoo by itself...

ah... actually u can use it too... one of my friend did that!
who said there's no such shampoo's for adults??/
if your that worried you can use it too :)

its not for babies and babies only :)
HAHA!

Good question.

I sometimes use them too, so should you (;
hey thats a good one eh??? who said its just 4 babies..... i've tried it .....its actually good....... its 4 ya too.... check it out
Use it then. It actually makes your hair smell great and feel soft. I've tried it.
Because adults are used to crying., once you become an adult its one worry or the other so what difference does it make?

Baby Shampoo?

Does Baby Shampoo help with adult hair?

I've heard that people use it because it makes hair healthy...is that true?

What are some other effects?Baby Shampoo?
I like to use it because of the detangler in it. It also seems to make my hair nice and soft and it comes in such nice scents.Baby Shampoo?
It can be really drying on hair. Haircare products made for adults are slightly acidic to cater to their hair needs. Baby shampoos are more basic to help with issues like cradle cap and prevent tear formation when it gets into the eye. It's not designed for adult hair, and again, can be drying.

It can work for you if you use just a tiny amount, or if you have problems with other shampoos causing problems with your eyes. Just dilute it so it's less drying.
Shampoo is shampoo...the rest is just hype, so don't listen to it. The good thing about baby shampoo is that it is gentle. What's gentle enough for a baby is obviously just fine for an adult. It won't do anything magical, though--unless you consider no tears magical.
it can be used on adult hair... but remember your hair versus baby hair is WAY different... and you need to be aware of the chammomile in the shampoo.. it can cause damage to adult hair
I've never used baby shampoo on my hair but I know for sure that it takes off makeup good no tears and it gentle on your skin!
i like baby shampoo because it is awesome
It smells good, and no tears!

  • Is collagen in shampoo & conditioner made from aborted babies?

    This Christian boy in my class says it is and I'm like no way so went to the drug store and looked at shampoo bottles and one said collagen with (hydrolized animal protein) after it. I said that don't sound like a baby and he's like ';animal protein--we're animals. What do you think they do with all them buckets of babies?';

Is he right? I haven't used shampoo with that stuff since he told me and my hair is getting all frizzily. Is collagen in shampoo %26amp; conditioner made from aborted babies?
    It's not from abortions.

It's from the foreskins when they circumcise baby boys. That's why nearly every guy in America is circumcised. The shampoo companies have bribed the doctors. Is collagen in shampoo %26amp; conditioner made from aborted babies?
what? this doesn't belong in this forum....
I've heard that, too, but I think that's a myth. Collagen does WONDERS for the hair. You gotta use it, my dear.
God NO! They do, however, use rendered animal carcasses, i.e. roadkill (goes to the rendering plant and turns into soaps and lotions).

    Sorry, but hey, you asked.
    LMAO

    My but you're gullible.
he's an idiot. The truth is hot dogs are made from aborted babies.
gullible indeed. as in austin powers ';get my baby back, baby back....ribs! get in my belly baby!.

    lol
Collagen in shampoos and conditioners is NOT made from aborted fetuses.

Companies use the cheapest material to make their products.

Cows, sheep and other domestic animals have lots of collagen in their hides and skin. When they slaughter these animals for food, they process the skin to get the collagen.

This is the cheapest, most plentiful, and easiest way of obtaining lots of collagen.

Aborted fetuses, while they have collagen in their skin, are so small that you would only be able to get a tiny amount of collagen from each one. Plus, the numbers of aborted babies is so few that you could not get anough collagen to supply industrial quantities needed to make shampoo and conditioner.

Plus, it is repulsive and repugnant to think anyone would use aborted fetuses in this way.

Even if a crazy shampoo company wanted to use aborted fetuses, if anyone found out, it would be headline news and the company would close in a second.
it IS made from animals, however, it is NOT from babies!

it comes from fibrous proteins (common in animals). thing is, the protein is hydrolyzed, meaning the protein decomposes by using water

it really helps coz it helps your hair to repair itself. besides, our hair is protein itself...

so dont fall for it... otherwise, it's an urban legend... and why did you post it here anyway? haha

What are the best natural/organic soaps, lotions, shampoos, and laundry detergents for babies?

My 4 month old baby has quite bad heat rash/eczema and I would like to try some different products since what I have been using/doing has not been helping. I will be going to the health food store tomorrow. Please let me know what worked for you and your opinions. Thanks! What are the best natural/organic soaps, lotions, shampoos, and laundry detergents for babies?

There are a lot of things you can do to be more eco friendly and green. I try to gather all of the tips I can to help the environment, and put them into action. Sometimes just the smallest change can make a difference. You will also come to find that being green can be more cost effective.

Which shampoo and oil is gud for babies dry skin?

is organic product is gud for babies skinWhich shampoo and oil is gud for babies dry skin?
Well I don't know how gud it is but I know that Aquaphor soap is GREAT when they have dry skin. My daughter has a bad problem with that and thats what I use when she gets so crazy dry. Also buy some Johnsons Shea Butter lotion. Best I have used.Which shampoo and oil is gud for babies dry skin?
elave junior intensive cream for dry sensitive skin. it works on my both nieces.
Johnson %26amp; Johnson has the best products when it comes to child care . the other brands i find sometimes on sale weren't as good . i myself recommend the shampoo they produce for children to be used by adults for daily use .
I absolutely LOVE Johnson %26amp; Johnson's Baby Oil Gel...my baby was getting dry skin on his legs %26amp; hands and I bought the Shea Butter lotion %26amp; it didn't work. I tried the baby oil gel %26amp; he hasn't had dry skin since. Try it....I LOVE it!!
Johnson and Johnsons is the brilliant stuff. I use it myself for dry skin (I have very sensitive skin and have to use baby wash/lotions) and it takes no time at all to work.
I like to use natural products. I don't like to use Johnson and Johnson products because they contain so many chemicals and synthetic fragrances. Most Synthetic fragrances contain phthalates. Phthalates have been linked to reproductive abnormalities. ';Babies are considered more vulnerable to developmental and reproductive toxicity of phthalates given their immature metabolisms.'; CTV.ca ';Baby products may contain harmful chemicals'; Anyways check out the ingredient list of any Johnson and Johnson product. That many chemicals cannot be good for adults, let alone babies.

Check out your local health food store and see what they carry. But remember some products say they are organic or ';all natural'; but they contain loads of junk. As for oil, you can buy apricot kernel oil, which is very light full of antioxidants and great for your baby's skin and your skin.

    Shampoo and aborted babies?

did you know some shampoos have an ingredient that comes from the amniotic sac of aborted babies. Note: There have been 50,000,000 abortions in USA since roe vs wadeShampoo and aborted babies?
did you know that they get the same ingredient from afterbirth and from animals, too?? i am total pro life, but if they can use bi products i am all for that.Shampoo and aborted babies?

Can you provide a link to that information?
yeah, and there is bull semen in red bull... you are nuts and disgusting. have the people in the white coats restrain you now.
    NOPE
Thats alot of shampoo, especially when you consider all the bald bast-rds around!
    That's ******** disgusting, and you're a bloody liar!

Ohh and umm where is your source?
Did you know that placentas used in some shampoos are from afterbirth as well?

Hate to tell ya this, but organs and tissues of most humans and some animals are used in everyday products.
It sounds like you are doing some political grand standing instead of asking a serious question!
mmm i like the feeling of dead unborn babies going all over me.
OK OK now I think I heard it all but that's ******* nuts because there is no evidence that your provided us to take a look for ourselves therefore I don't believe a damn word your saying I know shampoo some are made from animals but I don't use any products that have been tested on animals therefore I think you need to post a link for us all to read this ourselves because your obviously nuts or loco ka baco in the noggin..LMAO
    ok, i dont beleive that.
really? Do you know which shampoos or where the information is?
id believe. u all say hes stupid a ****** liar, but..you'd be surprised. usa if ****** up

Soft %26amp; Precious is what a lot of moms use. It is commonly available at drugstores %26amp; at Walmart. Black babies' hair should not be washed too often. 1 x wk at most. It can dry out too easily. But it is good to massage a little bit of natural oil on their scalp like jojoba oil, shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil. every day.
some babies are allergic to j%26amp;J go to a health food store there are too many harsh chemicals in store shampoo for anyone.

For her hair, we use Johnsons %26amp; Johnsons Baby Shampoo

You can use head and shoulder's. A little bit goes a long way.

My daughter had it and her doctor said to use that and it will go away. And it did and it never came back.

Good luck to you.My 3 mo old son has cradle cap. Tried baby oil, brush and shampooing. Keeps coming back. what else can I do?
It can be fungal. You can either use a small amount of antifungal shampoo (such as head and shoulders) or more natural remedies such as mild vinegar or lemon solution, or grapefruit seed extract.

If your baby is formula fed you might consider adding probiotics to the formula. If you are breastfeeding and you take probiotics they will appear in your milk, because of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding it is not better to give the baby probiotics separately until they start non-breastmilk foods.

If you are breastfeeding and a vegetarian you may need some extra B vitamins, though among vegetarians and vegans it is controversial as to whether a vegetarian or vegan diet is really lacking in B vitamins.

    Causes

The cause of cradle cap is not clearly defined but it is not caused by an infection, allergy nor from poor hygiene. Possibly it has to do with overactive sebaceous glands in the skin of newborn babies, due to the mother's hormones still in the baby's circulation. The glands release a greasy substance that makes old skin cells attach to the scalp as they try to dry and fall off. There may be a relationship with skin yeasts (Pityrosporum ovale, newly renamed Malassezia furfur). Nutritionally oriented practitioners have speculated that the disorder is caused by the baby's immature digestive system being unable to absorb sufficient biotin and other vitamins of the B-complex.

    Warning signs

Home remedies are appropriate with mild cases. If the condition thickens, turns red and irritated, starts spreading, appears on other body parts, or if the baby develops a persistent diaper rash, medical intervention is recommended. Fungal infection (tinea capitis) and scabies can mimic cradle cap.

Cradle cap is occasionally linked to immune disorders. If the baby is not thriving and has other problems (e.g. diarrhoea), consult a doctor.

    Treatment

    [edit] Scalp, behind ears, eyebrows

The common advice of applying (vegetable or mineral) oil liberally to the scalp and letting it soak in overnight or for lesser periods of time seems to conflict with the fact that Malassezia yeasts thrive in oily environments. If the cradle cap is not severe, you may try to comb it out gently after bathing. The softened scales can then be brushed away with a soft brush, comb or cloth, but if not done very gently, this can worsen the condition and bring about temporary hair loss. There has been no study done on these recommendations.

Applying petroleum jelly (e.g., Vaseline) liberally overnight is another popular treatment. The softened scales either fall off during the night, or can be brushed off in the morning.

Making a paste from sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and leaving it on the affected area for 10 minutes can also help lift the scales.

There is broad disagreement regarding the role of shampoos. Some sources warn against frequent shampooing, others recommend it. Mild baby shampoo is often recommended, while never specifying what ';mild'; actually means. Baby shampoos often contain detergent surfactants, perfumes, quaternium-15 and other eczemagenic irritants. Again, no studies have been performed.

Keratolytic (dandruff) shampoos (e.g with sulfur, selenium, zinc pyrithione, or salicylic acid) are generally not recommended as they sting eyes and may worsen the dermatitis. In stubborn cases some doctors do recommend them while others warn against the use of medicated shampoos in newborns due to systemic absorption. Dandruff shampoos often contain sodium dodecyl sulfate, a noted skin irritant.[1]

Steroid and tar preparations have also been used but have significant drawbacks. Immunomodulators (tacrolimus/Protopic, pimecrolimus/Elidel) have not been approved for babies under two years.

Ketoconazole shampoos and creams are taking first place in medical treatment of moderate to serious cradle cap. Research so far indicates that this anti-fungal medication is not absorbed into the bloodstream. Ketoconazole shampoo is currently made with a number of problematic irritants and allergens.

A Swedish study[citation needed] found good results from massaging the scalp with small amounts of borage oil twice a day. # Tolleson, A., and Frithz, A. 1993. Borage oil: an effective new treatment for infantile seborrheic dermatitis. Brit. J. Dermatol. 129:95.

Other home remedies recommended in various alternative sources and parent forums are herbal washes (e.g burdock or chamomile), aloe gel, and tea tree oil (Melaleuca oil) shampoo. Tea tree oil and aloe can be sensitizers; any worsening should be an occasion to discontinue the remedy in question. Both remedies have been tested in medical trials and found useful.[citation needed]
You might just have to give it time. Have you ever seen a toddler with cradle cap? It always goes away eventually.
My son had cradle cap, I put baby oil, brushed it, and used special shampoo etc but this just seemed to aggravate it, baby oil is actually really bad to put on their scalp, so I tried olive oil and stopped washing his scalp and it cleared up within days, I know its not that simple for everyone but it seemed the more I messed with it the worse it got
Mustella makes a great shampoo wash for craddle cap, I know they have it at Babies-R-Us and Land of Nod.
*raising hand* My daughter still has ';cradle cap'; aka dandruff. ;-P I highly recommend gentle naturals cradle cap treatment. Worked SOOO freaking well. I would bet the little pimples are clogged pores from the oils.

    GL!
My son had a really bad cradle cap. My monther-in-law said it was the worst she has ever seen. I tried many things, but nothing helped. The cradle cap eventually went away. It took about two months. The only consistent thing we did was to wash his hair every second night and scraped it a little bit.
rub petroleum jelly on it and put him on a hat. It worked for my child.
My daughter still has it shes almost 9 months Ive done the whole oil brush thing also and it will lighten a bit then just come back I figure screw it LOL it will eventually go away its not like its hurting her.

My 3-month-old baby has lots of hair and I find some flakes on her sculp. Is shampooing once a week too much?

my baby just got the same thing (cradle cap) about a week ago(she also has lots of hair), I rubbed olive oil on her hair aand scalp and used a baby comb and combed in small circles and then against the hair growth with the comb flat against her scalp(be careful over the soft spot!) until the flakes stopped showing up (clean the comb off every few minutes, alternate circles and comb flat against scalp) then wash good, wash every couple days, repeat oil and combing when you see more flakes. It took me about 2 hours of combing to get rid of her flakes even though it only seemed to be a small area . her scalp looks fine now.

good luck!My 3-month-old baby has lots of hair and I find some flakes on her sculp. Is shampooing once a week too much?
Sounds like cradle cap...my friend (a pediatrician) told me to put a dime sized amount of selsun blue on my baby's hair, rub it in and leave it for a couple of minutes while I finish the rest of her bath. Repeat this every other day for a total of three treatments. It worked like a charm! I wish I knew this for my first daughter whose hair was almost non-exsistent.

Also, cradle cap will go away if you do nothing at all. Using a soft brush can help minimize the visual flakes! Good Luck!My 3-month-old baby has lots of hair and I find some flakes on her sculp. Is shampooing once a week too much?
your baby has cradle cap, its pretty common , its just like an over growth of dandruff babies get. I would suggest washing her hair more often, and rubbing baby oil on it. See if you can gently comb off some of the flakes while its soft, so just when she comes out of the bath. You should shampoo her hair every other day.
NO SHE PROBABLY HAS WHAT IS KNOWN AS CRADLE CAP. ITS AN OVER PRODUCTION OF THE OIL THAT COATS OUR HAIR. RUB A SMALL BIT OF BABY OIL INTO HER SCALP ONCE OR TWICE A DAY AND THEN BRUSH HER HAIR FOR A WHILE. IF THAT DOESNT WORK THEN YOU CAN GO BUY SOME CRADLE CAP STUFF AT ANY MAJOR CHAIN STORE IN THE BABY SECTION.
No, that is not too much. She has cradle cap. The best solution is a cradle cap brush (in the baby section) and the Gentle Natural's Cradle Cap Care (with Pooh bear on the front I think) at Walmart. It smells FANTASTIC and is the only thing that worked for my baby and my friend's baby.
It can be cradle cap. My daughter had this. The pediatrician had said to rub a little bit of olive oil into the dry areas (flaky areas) and use a soft bristled brush to break up the flaky part. After a few weeks it went away but was quite unsightly.
I doubt it. I have always bathed my daughter everyday. For a short time she had some cradle cap but it is harmless.
NO You could also try putting some baby oil on the hair and takeing a soft brush and rubbing some of those flakes out . That is what i did for caddle cap. That is what most women i know do.
do a search on cradle cap! Perfectly normal
No, not too much. It could be cradle cap. Try putting some baby oil on her scalp and using a soft baby brush.
nah thats fine it is probably just craddle cap most babies (with hair) get it - my son was born with lots of hair %26amp; he had it your doc should be able to give you something to take it away!! :)
she might have the starting of cradle cap, its nothing bad. just put baby oil on it and if that doesnt improve use a baby brush to remove excess skin and put baby oil on afterwards

Do baby shampoos contain SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate)?

Baby shampoos are supposed to be the gentlest, right? SLS is a HARSH component contained in most commercial shampoos. I don't like using shampoos that contain SLS for that reason, and I have begun using organic shampoos...but they are EXPENSIVE! So, I figured I could save money by buying baby shampoo instead of organic shampoo...

    Do baby shampoos contain SLS?

Thank you for your answers in advance!Do baby shampoos contain SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate)?
SLS is a detergent. Yes the bottle that I have says it does contain SLS. Soap is made from a fat and lye, sodium hydroxide. A detergent is made from an alcohol and lye or potassium hydroxide for softer soaps and detergents. Both are organic compounds from the chemistry point of view because they contain carbon chains. I would be careful of homemade soaps because they are not controlled as far as the amount of lye that might be left. Sodium laurel sulfate and its relatives sodium laureleth sulfate and a few others . One bottle I just checked had ammonium lauryl sulfate and ammonium Lauralee sulfate. Use a baby shampoo or hypoallergenic one. The detergents listed are not as harsh as the old fashioned soap.Do baby shampoos contain SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate)?
johnson %26amp;johnsons baby shampoo does contain SLS n i was shocked to see that.i thought of taking a look at its ingriedients thinking it wudnt contain SLS but was sad to see that even that contains SLS... Report Abuse

The ingrediants in a shampoo will vary by brand. The only way to tell is to read the ingrediants list on the bottle. If it has SLS, it will be listed.
I do not agree with your teleological argument. If god wanted man to walk, why did he invent the car? Poison ivy is natural, would you use a shampoo made from it?

Organic shampoo is a marketing strategy. All shampoos contain chemicals. You should evaluate an organic shampoo's safety in the same manner as any other. I do note that J%26amp;J's baby shampoo contains a cationic surfactant rather than an anionic one. Perhaps you would find cationic surfactant less harsh? I don't know which are more effective.

For safety, it is a difficult question to answer precisely especially with companies using it for marketing purposes. On SLS, I found this document, http://www.nicnas.gov.au/PUBLICATIONS/In鈥?/a> . It looks quite rational. I would say that if you are only using it on your skin, it looks quite safe (if that matters). If you are drinking small amounts of it, it is probably also okay.

Reading between the lines, I note the J%26amp;J product lists sodium hydroxide may be present. I would surmise that as an irritant, this will be number one. I will also surmise that an ';organic'; shampoo will also contain sodium (or potassium) hydroxide and if made from natural fats and oils, likely will contain larger amounts. I am only guessing here. They probably pH adjust them, but if the pH is too low, then they lose effectiveness and may form a film. High pH is more easily tolerated as it can react with carbonic acid in water without effect, but would increase toxicity of a shampoo.

  • My baby is 2 years 8 months old. She is got dandruff on her hair - can i use Pantene danruff shampoo?

Will washing her hair once a week with it help? Any other suggestion ?My baby is 2 years 8 months old. She is got dandruff on her hair - can i use Pantene danruff shampoo?
heat olive oil (slightly), and apply it on the scalp of the head, after few mins take a towel, dip it in the hot water and squeez the water and tie that towel on her head do this 6 times and than wash her hair..

dranruff will go away and good 4 d hairMy baby is 2 years 8 months old. She is got dandruff on her hair - can i use Pantene danruff shampoo?
use selcium blue. It is perfectly okay. My daughter had it even when she was only 3 months old and the pediatrician actually recommended selsium blue.... and it works so well! Also, it may not be dandruff it could just be residue from not washing all the shampoo out so make sure you are reallly rinsing good!

    good luck
johnson and johnson baby no tears shampoo
It definately sounds like cradle cap...the best remedy: Gently rub olive oil on her scalp and let it sit for 5 minutes, then massage gently with a soft baby comb to loosen it. Then shampoo thoroughly with baby shampoo and rinse really well..repeat for about 3 days and it will be gone!
don't use pantene shampoo. Washing her hair daily with gram flour or mustard powder.
No, Dont use shampoos used by adults. There are shapoos for children. Use those shampoos.
Do NOT use adult shampoo on a childs head. rub a small amount of baby oil on the scalp
    head and shouders
no don;t use pantene on her, she to young only use kids shampoo like johnson baby shampoo, and apply olive oil on her hair once a week
Kids have special shampoo which is a lot milder than adult ones. I'm sure pantene will be too strong for her tender scalp and make it drier. Try warm cocunut oil massage followed by Johnson %26amp; Johnson Tip to Toe wash, it worked with my kid. Its better to give a wash every alternate day %26amp; dry the hair naturally instead of using a drier.
Ask a pharmacist be for you use any thing.
yes you can use that . You could also mix a little baking soda in it to that will help . I know in the baby section of most stores there is a shampoo that is called Gentle natures and they make a dandruff shampoo , an craddle cap shampoo and a ezema wash . You might want to try that brand . It is made for babies and toddlers .
No, do not use any adult hair product.

wash her hair every other day instead of every day - dandruff is caused, for a child of that age, by dry scalp.

If her scalp seems crusty, however, what she has is called cradle cap. To get rid of this, put baby oil on her head and massage it down to her scalp and let it sit for a little while, easiest if she's already in the tub. The using a fine comb, comb the stuff off of her scalp andout of her hair. The wash her hair as normal.. The baby oil helps soften and loosen the cradle cap.
All dandruff shampoos are quite hard. You can use curd for the dandruff.Just use it like we shampoo and wash it off.

My baby is 2.8 months old. She si got dandruff on her hair - can i use Pantene danruff shampoo?

Will washing her hair once a week with it help? Any other suggestion ?My baby is 2.8 months old. She si got dandruff on her hair - can i use Pantene danruff shampoo?
This isn't dandruff. It's cradle cap, it's very common and normal for her age and no do not use Pantene on your babies hair. Use baby shampoo and use a brush while the shampoo is in her hair. Brush in tiny circles softly. Make sure you brush her hair everyday.

You might notice the same condition around your baby's ears or eyebrows, or even in his armpits and other creases. When it's not on his scalp, it's called seborrheic dermatitis. It's harmless. Most often it shows up in the first few months of life, and it usually clears up on its own in about six to 12 months 鈥?although some babies have it for several years. My baby is 2.8 months old. She si got dandruff on her hair - can i use Pantene danruff shampoo?
it is not dandruff, it is natural and it will go by itself.. dont put shampoo
I agree with nette. Just like laundry soap for baby's isn't supposed to be what we adults use, the same goes, even more so, for anything that touches our skin. Take care.
    no!

    don't do that!

she is going thru a natural skin process..

    it will go away eventually
Please DO NOT USE DANDRUFF SHAMPOO ON YOUR BABY...she probably just has cradle cap. When you wash her hair, don't be afraid to scrub her scalp thoroughly, but not TOO hard with your nails. Or you can use a soft bristle brush. I actually bought a cat grooming soft bristle brush for my daughter. When I brush her hair with it, she smiles and seems to really enjoy it. Also make sure you completely rinse her hair after washing. After the bath, while the scalp is still wet, you can continue to massage it in a circular motion with the bristle brush. The moisture will loosen the dead skin cells and make it easier to rid her scalp of the flakes. After a few washings you should be able to see a great impovement.
    NO??

Just get some baby oil a little bit and put it on her hair and brush it off but be care full. If that dot work just call her doc okay.

    Good Luck?
For any Hair Problems visit http://www.freewebs.com/hair-loss-treatm鈥?/a>
It's probably cradle cap. Check the baby section and look for baby shampoo for cradle cap. If unable to find something please take the baby to your peditrician. My hubby and I used baby oil and lotions. Also I recommend a gentle massage with your child a couple times a day. Using a baby hair brush might also help to remove loose ';dandruff';.
No Don't use any shampoos for Ur baby.. it will be harmful to the baby.. and causes more damage to the tender skin... so pls do wash the hair twice a week (After applying Oil the scalps).. Dandruff also spreads from other persons thru air.. so keep urself clean and cleanse the pillow covers frequently.. Using albumen of egg is good.. but i dont know whether it is recommended for children.. U can use herbal items like hibiscus(but it is so cool),
No, it is much better going with something VERY mild for a baby that young. Use Johnson %26amp; Johnson Baby Shampoo, because Pantene Pro-V is much too much harsh for a baby's skin/scalp.
Your new baby has what is called cradle cap. It is dry loose skin and you just need to use baby oil on the scalp. Do not us any adult dandruff shampoo on a baby.
it's not dandruff it's cradel cap try baby phisoderm and brush her hair alot
That is totally unnecessary and would probably dry her scalp out even more. It probably isn't dandruff either, but cradle cap which is a very common condition for young babies. It will look like dry scaly skin and often will be flaky. A great way to treat it is to apply an edible oil like olive, almond or apricot and massage it into the skin. You can then gently comb your babies hair and slough off some of the scales. Alternatively you can just leave it alone. As your babies skin matures this condition will probably resolve itself.
Please read the instructions given by the manufacturer before using the shampoo on the newly born baby. Generally shampoos contain chemicals which may cause harm to the tiny child. Always take advice of a paediatrician before using any such new thing on the new Born baby.
NO! never, Try combing it out with Baby oil, washing it off with baby shampoo only. Try to get a fine very fine comb, like the ones people use to kill lice, rub her head with baby oil and comb it out. If this does not help contact your pediatrician. Its most likely just dry scalp, not actual dandruff. They usually out grow this by their 3-4 months.

Do it atleast 2 times a week and be careful you dont do it to hard.
if she's only 2.8 months old, then its not dandruff. its probably what they call ';cradle cap';. if you go to drgreene.com theres a whole page of explanation on cradle cap, what it is, who gets it, and how to treat it. all the good stuff. Good luck and dont use pantene! lol.

I read an article where it was mentioned that the fragrance component in baby products like shampoo and lotions is harmful to babies.

Can anyone recommend a good baby shampoo, body wash and lotion that is fragrance free ?Which fragrance free shampoo is good to use for 1 month old baby ?
I recommend Aveeno products. They work great and will also help to moisturize your childs skin. I started using Aveeno because my daughter has eczema and I wish I would have used it from the beginning. They carry the regular oatmeal products as well as the lavender scents that are to help the baby sleep at night. If you have Walgreens drug store/ pharmacy where you live they have Aveeeno baby products on sale right now 3/$10. Otherwise the best price is at Walmart. It is more expensive than traditional baby stuff but its worth it. Good luck!Which fragrance free shampoo is good to use for 1 month old baby ?
Aveeno makes fabulous baby products that are fragrance free.
are you really going to be one of those moms that think everything is bad for your baby so your going to go out and buy special things just for a few months, hospitals use johnson and johnson 2 in 1 baby wash and aveeno makes great brands. so if the hospitals use it, so will i.

If a pregnant woman accidentally ingests some shampoo, what can happen to her and the baby?

I'm 2 months pregnant so I'm trying to be extra careful. But last night, I was shampooing my hair when my left eye started throbbing because of suds that got into it. I only focused on the pain and I started sloshing water on it with my right hand. My mouth was open the whole time. Then, I realized that there could still be shampoo on my hand because I just started shampooing and I didn't have time to check my hand before washing my eye. So I washed my mouth with water and spit a few times. I wanted to induce vomitting but I didn't because I didn't know if that could be bad too. I'm so afraid right now. What could have happened to my baby? It's been 10 hours since it happened. I need answers, please. If a pregnant woman accidentally ingests some shampoo, what can happen to her and the baby?
Oh, don't worry. Even if you sloshed a fair amount of shampoo in your mouth the most it will do is give you a bit of diarrhea. It won't hurt your baby. Don't be afraid to call your Dr's office and speak with their nurse regarding concerns such as this.

And don't ever induce vomiting without speaking with Poison Control first. You were right not too. Some chemicals will do more harm when brought back up from the stomach. If a pregnant woman accidentally ingests some shampoo, what can happen to her and the baby?
Did you taste shampoo? If you've ever got soap of any kind in your mouth it leaves a horrible taste and you would know it. Even if you did get a small amount in your mouth you will be find. So stop worrying! The worrying is probably worse for you than a little bit of shampoo in your mouth.
IF you dont fell sick then you probably didnt swallow anything or you didnt swallow enough to do anyharm. If you are sitll concerned I would honestly recommoned going to see your docter. Everything is fine with you and your baby. Congrats on the new baby!
Unless you took the bottle of shampoo and started drinking it, I think you're fine. A few drops of shampoo is not going to do anything to either you or the baby.
    absoloutely NOTHING... just relax.
You are going to be fine.....but you must relax...babies are more resilient than people think....relax and enjoy this special time in your life.
nothing u would have had to ate a few bottles of it
i think you are very worried for absolutely no reason. I think you need to relax and realize that your baby will live in this world with all the toxins and dreadful things around. You definitely need to be careful and conscious while you are pregnant but it sounds like you are being irrationally worried. A little soap will not hurt your pregnancy. However, excessive or obsessive worry is not healthy for you and it will not do your unborn baby any good. You will also find that once your baby is born, the worrying only just begins. You can not create a perfect world for your child and wanting to or trying to is not good.

    Good luck!

Isn't dry shampoo basically the same thing as putting baby powder in your hair?

I take showers at night because my hair tends to dry very very slowly and blow dryers just make it explode. So i shower at night because i don't have the time in the morning to wait 2-3 hours for my hair to dry, and so by the time i wake up my hair is quite a bit oily around my bangs (i've started pinning them up for the nite but that just ends up with waves in my bangs when i put them back down, but its better than the alternative.). anyways so i sometimes still have to put a little bit of baby powder in my hair to soak up the oil, but this usually leaves a blotch of white.

so i heard about this miracle of DRYY SHAMPOO. and i thought wow, this seems like exactly what i need, all you do is spray it and its the same result but without the white! after researching a bit and reading reviews on different brands of dry shampoo (bumble and bumble, klorane, oscar blandi, etc) honestly to me it sounds like its the same thing as baby powder.

just in a spray form. it still leaves the white spots and apparently the colored ones aren't that great either unless they happen to perfectly match you, which is unlikely especially for a person of my luck.

so whats the point of spending so much money on dry shampoo?

is there a REAL solution to problems like mine? i thoguht dry shampoo was the answer. but it seems like there may not be one.Isn't dry shampoo basically the same thing as putting baby powder in your hair?
If they leave white spots then u arent using them correctly. I use one from Samy and it works really well a lot better than baby powder. Yeah if you spray it in one spot for to long u will get a white spot, but then you massage it in and wait a few then brush. And this only costs like $6 @ ulta.

Study suggests that Chemicals in some baby creams, shampoos can be harmful, ?

should i use organic baby product to avoid the problem, and the price is not really that expensive.Study suggests that Chemicals in some baby creams, shampoos can be harmful, ?
note wording: ';suggests';, ';some';, and ';can be';. Chances are you'll be fine with the regular stuff. some study just found some correlation between using the products and some kind of deterioration of the babies health. but remember correlation does not mean relation.

but hey it is slightly safer to use the organic products, which is really why they are more expensive. the choice is up to youStudy suggests that Chemicals in some baby creams, shampoos can be harmful, ?
Look up parabins on the internet. They cause cancer. They are also in most commercial shampoos and creams. Our skin absorbes whatever you put on it, so if you put harmful chemicals all over your baby, well it will harm his insides too. You wouldn't blow cigarette smoke on your baby, putting chemicals on his skin is much the same. Scarey!

It is always healthier to stay closer to nature! Look at all the health problems (cancer, autism, allergies etc) that people face today, much more then 50 years ago, some of this has to do with the toxic chemicals that we put on and in our bodies.

Anyone use Johnson's baby shampoos or lotions?

I love using the regular baby lotion (pink) or bedtime baby lotion (purple), theyre so soothing on my shaved legs and I love the smell. Does anyone else use them or the shampoos?? Do the shampoos clean properly on adult hair???Anyone use Johnson's baby shampoos or lotions?
I have only used them on my baby. I like the shea and cocoa butter body wash for my baby.

If you hair is oily I would suggest a regular adult shampoo.Anyone use Johnson's baby shampoos or lotions?
The shampoo's pretty good, as shampoo goes.

I can confirm that neither the baby powder or the baby oil contains no real babies, however.
I use the shampoo and like it.
Yes they are good for adults. They are just milder so they won't hurt the babies eyes on shampoos. Also, people with sensitive skin uses the lotions as well since the lotions are really good for that.
I use the Lavender %26amp; Camamile baby lotion on my shaved legs too! Love it. as far as baby shampoo...love it. It works great when you need to get your hair clean. get all the gunk out. then leaving it so nice and soft. the only down side is people will complement me on looking great after having a baby, that wouldnt be so bad if I acutally was a mother.
They are fine and if you like them and they work for you, don't worry about changing them

I have always love those products and the smells they have and have always used them
I've used their lotion for moisturizing, but I think the shampoo is probably to weak for adult hair (think about getting out all the oils/sweat/hair products out).
I use if it my hair is getting a little to dry and brittle. It works pretty good. I like using the purple lotion after I get a bath because it smells soo good.
Adults sometimes use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and I admit that I, too, have given in a used it when supplies of my other shampoo were running low. This product is mild enough that it won’t hurt your scalp but for most adults, the mildness is almost too great to make it effective. I have short hair so I can get away with using a product like Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and still get a clean head of hair. But for really oily or dirty hair, this product won’t cut it for most adults. Of course, it isn’t really meant for adults but as many might recall, Johnson’s did try to promote this shampoo as a product for people of all ages at one time. The television ads featured NFL quarterback Fran Tarkenton with the former Minnesota Viking explaining how he used Johnson’s Baby Shampoo because it was gentle enough to use every day (remember this ad?). I always thought these ads were really funny- not just because an NFL player was promoting the use of Baby Shampoo for adult men but also because Johnson’s was actually spending money on this type of advertising campaign. Someone in the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo marketing department must have decided that the one sure way to increase sales of a baby product is to market it to adults. Fortunately for all of us, Johnson’s ended its “adults can use baby products, too” campaign after this. What would have come next- John Candy demonstrating how diapers can benefit adults by eliminating the need to run to the restroom during a busy day at work? I think someone at Johnson’s decided that the advertising money for the baby products division would be better spent directed toward those who actually buy baby products for their babies, bringing this marketing experiment to an end
They do clean well on adult short, thin, hair, but I would recomend them for thicker longer hair!
yes they are great on your hair if you have normal hair that is not chemically treated. I love that baby smell, too. I use baby oil to shave, too.
The shampoo is great for my puppy... not so great for adults... leaves a lot of residue if used all the time.
you would have to take showers daily and you'll be alright
Yep, the shampoos work like a charm and leave your hair feeling really soft. I use them!

and only you can decide it they work for you... whatever makes you feel clean! ^^
They're really good if you have acne, other sensitive skin problems. Just remember not to use a wash cloth when you're using them. The wash cloth can aggravate skin conditions and actually worsen acne problems.
I used the lotion with baby oil for years so that I could have baby smooth skin. Now I like Neutrogena body oil. But yeah, J%26amp;J has great products.
I use the lotions and I love them but I don't use the shampoo because i love my herbal essence
    I use the shampoo. I works just fine and if you look on the bottle it does say ';for the whole family';

My baby has cradle cap Ive tried dentinox shampoo it does not work HELP!?

Massage some olive oil into the scalp and gently wash off next morning, try this for a couple of days and it will workMy baby has cradle cap Ive tried dentinox shampoo it does not work HELP!?
rub baby oil in leave over night then gently lift it off should come off no problem cradle cap looks bad but its not harmfull will flake eventually if left aloneMy baby has cradle cap Ive tried dentinox shampoo it does not work HELP!?
hi Ruth - im not sure if this will work or not - but i have a very dry skin condition and i just use aqueous cream - it's water based so i dont think it would be too strong for your babies head - hope this may be of help
Massage a small amount of baby oil onto your baby's head. Leave it for a while and then brush his/her hair very gently and it should lift off. Obviously it will leave the hair a bit greasy so it will need to be washed after wards.
Olive Oil! It works wonders! My health vistor recommended it! Leave it on over night, then wash off!
both of my sons suffered with this also and i was at my wits end trying alsorts but what did help shift it eventually was baby oil. put it all over your babys head and leave it on all night then wash it off in the morning keep doing this and i assure you it will go
In the night time wet her hair with Baby Oil. Comb through and massage thoroughly. Leave it in until the morning. Then comb again and wash how you regularly do. Repeat if neccessary until it clears.
dont worry.its nothing and will go away! i put vaseline on my babys head than morning brushed with soft brush and washed it off.. dont ever try to pick it with your fingers if you do, you damage hair folicles and no hair will grow there again!
get a tub of vaseline and rub it all over babys head leave on all night then wash of in the morning may have to do it a few nights depends how bad it is this worked on my daughter hope this helps, and dont worry vaseline is gentle
Gently massage the baby oil into the baby's scalp, just a little at a time.

Then, use a soft baby brush, to brush the flakes away.
My pediatrician said to use the olive oil, and it worked for us, and my daughter had it really bad!
I used olive oil or baby oil on a piece of cotton wool and used this to rub it on the areas of cradle cap in a circular motion. It comes off and makes the cotton wool a yellow colour. Afterwards I would wash the hair in the bath. Use a really gentle shampoo and rinse thoroughly. If it's really bad it will take a while to come off totally but keep doing it and you'll soon get it off.
In order to avoid overly drying out the little one's skin, you might want to keep the baby's baths down to 2 or 3 a week. Also, research your baby care products as infant skin is extremely sensitive and needs to most gentle products out there. Many baby care products (including wash and lotions) contain ingredients such as fragrance and mineral oil, the molecular structure of which is too large to penetrate the pores of skin, sitting on the top layer like saran wrap. Mineral oil is actually motor oil washed several times to make it clear. These products may cause irritation and get wiped off over time and give little to no benefit but rather a temporary feeling of softness. Baby's need pure, and safe water based products with the proper ingredients.

Arbonne has a great baby care line (hair and body wash, lotion, body oil, diaper rash cream, and sunscreen) that is botanically-based and pH correct, pediatrician and dermatologist tested, non-sensitizing, non-irritating, and formulated without nut oils. They are formulated with natural ingredients like oat flour which is an emollient and an emulsifier. It鈥檚 highly absorbent and hypoallergenic. Oat flour helps to soothe and soften dry, itchy and sensitive skin. I use Arbonne's baby care products on both of my children and have never had a problem with dry, irritated skin.

If you're open to trying a free sample, I'll be happy to send you one.
when my infant had it his dr told me to use a tiny drop of head and shoulders rub it in to a lather and then use a soft bristle baby brush to lighty brush the loose sking off. i also use i tiny bit of baby oil in their hair after baths

    good luck
My friend tried Olive oil and it helped, just rub in a small amount and leave.
you have to use quite alot of olive oil on for it to work effectively and quickly.

Put on before nap time. Leave for a couple of hours while they are alseep.

Remember to put a muslin or cloth underneath head so that it doesnt soak into mattress.

Then get a soft baby brush and with gentle quick flicks work from the fringe backwards to back of head.

Keep repeating process and cradle cap will lift off.

Do not use a baby comb and too harsh and do NOT use your fingers as this can damage skin and may spread infections.

Afterwards swaddle in towel tuck under arm then give thorough wash off with small amoutn of baby shampoo.

If this is done every time it starts to appear it will gradually cease altogether.

Hope this helps, its worked for me on many babies over my years of nannying.
I used olive oil. Makes the babies hair look a bit greasy but it worked! My health visitor also told me to dilute the baby shampoo and my daughters cradle cap cleared up in no time.
try baby oil or butter they both work.
Try Avent massage gel it worked within a few days and my daughter had it quite thick at one stage - the shampoo didn't work on my daughter either alternatively baby oil
Some olive oil and a gentle move of a comb over babys head very gentle and that should do the trick good luck
if i was you i would put olive oil, like the others said. i don't have a baby but i know some people who do so i know.
We used Selson Blue (on doctor's orders) and it worked wonders. Within 3 washings (6 days) it was basically gone.

However, with all adult and medicated shampoos, be very very careful not to get it in their eyes. Can be very bad.
    Hi!

All my kids have had cradle cap and it can be quite hard to get rid of completely. However, some researchers recently discovered what caused cradle cap and since then a new ointment is available. Go to the pharmacy and ask for an ointment containing borago oil. You can also buy it online, but I haven't tried that.

    It really works!

For more information, check my website, where I write about this in more detail. http://www.easybabylife.com/cradle-cap.h鈥?/a>

    Good luck!

My 1 year old baby is having a very itchy scalp ,i feel bad for him and i change the shampoo it didnt work?

could it be seriousMy 1 year old baby is having a very itchy scalp ,i feel bad for him and i change the shampoo it didnt work?
yes he may have a fungus and thats not easy to cure or something in his pillow or sheets or mattress or his rug in his bedroom , he may have fleas for the animals if you have a dog or cat . possibly anything wash his hair every morning when he wakes up and rinse with a mild viniger like a little white viniger to a lot of water it will insure you rise all the soap out of his hair . oh did you get him a hair cut from a barber or salon they may of used dirty equipment on his head and transfered something . scabies . is very hard to detect and very itchy cuz they are just under the skin . so take him to the dr try phyoderm or maybe even something likehead and shoulders may help calm it down . poor guyMy 1 year old baby is having a very itchy scalp ,i feel bad for him and i change the shampoo it didnt work?
I'm 12 years old, and I have psoriasis on my scalp. Does he have flakes coming off? Does he have orangish yellowish crust on his scalp? It looks like little scabs? If he does, he probably has psoriasis. I dont know how well he lets you rinse his hair, but can you use shampoo that is for adults, not babies? If it gets in his eyes, it might hurt. Try these shampoos:

Selsun Blue (works the best so far)

    Head and Shoulders

T-Gel (use every week or two)

And shampoo that is for psoriasis, dandruff or itchy scalp.

    Good luck. :D
See your pediatrician. Could be an allergy. Does the baby scratch his head? I wondering about him getting an infection.

There could be other causes that could be a real problem so get it checked before it gets worse. Might need a dry shampoo. Your doctor can recommend the best shampoo. He may want to give you a medicated shampoo.

Don't worry mom, this is what babies do.
It could be serious, but more likely, he's just got dry skin. Best thing I've found is coconut oil. Best thing for diaper rash, too! Really amazing stuff.

Make sure you get organic oil, not solvent extracted. Water extraction is the best.

I buy it online at www.tropicaltraditions.com, but any good health food store in your area should have it.
Probably just a dry scalp. Rub a little virgin olive oil on the scalp and leave it as long as possible. Then wash. The dry flakes should come right off, and give the baby some relief.
It may be cradle cap which is quite common. I would pop him along to the doctor who can make a proper diagnosis and maybe prescrible a suitable shampoo.
I think the best you could do is just ask your doctor

So, which shampoo collection for babies do you suggest me?

I mean, shampoo, body lotion etc.

    Which is the better one?

35+1So, which shampoo collection for babies do you suggest me?
Johnsons baby shampoo is the best. The best bath wash and body lotions is definately the johnsons bedtime collection- it smells absolutely fantastic- I even put it in myself. It comes in purple containers

Boots have offers on all the time- They have a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment but I'm not sure if baby products are included in this. But if you have a boots card then join th eparenting club and you get double points which is good. I have a 4 month old baby and I have got 拢56 on my Advantage card now just from buying baby products and getting extra points. So, which shampoo collection for babies do you suggest me?
Really they are all good. I used whatever was on sale. But for the first things I bought I got johnson+johnson no more tears baby shampoo/body wash, their brand lotion and a butt load of penaten diaper cream. I bought it at costco and had enough for a million baby bums. I found barrier cream with zinc to be absolutely amazing for diaper related issues. Or bum butter was good too. I rarely used the baby lotion. He was as soft as could be and didn't really need it. I used it more for baby massages. Just a rub down to soothe fussy nerves.
Johnsons Lavendar Bath Wash and Lotion. It's all you'll need. (what I use)

Huggies is second best with bath wash and lotion in lavendar OR their honey oatmeal formula. (I use the wash n toss cloths for travel because they pack great in a zip bag for each day and aren't bulky like bottles of bath wash are)

Baby bath wash can double as shampoo for them until they are old enough for the regular kids products.

Definitely Johnsons. I got a bunch of Baby Magic brand shampoo, baby wash, lotion, etc for my baby shower, but did not like the smell of it. Luckily my husband worked with someone who loved Baby Magic, so she benefited from it. I myself used Johnsons and still do with my 3 yr old. I will also use it when the baby gets here (22 weeks pregnant)
I always used the regular Johnson %26amp; Johnson baby wash (head to toe) and baby lotion. Once my daughter's hair got longer and was tangled after her bath using the baby wash, I switched to Suave Kids 2-in-1 shampoo, and it works great. She is 4 and I still use the baby wash for soap though, since we still have a huge bottle of it.

Online? I would get it from Walmart.
I like Johnson and Johnson. They use a no tear formula and it works great! Baby magic is also good :) It has that ';baby smell';.
johnsons top to toe wash its great for babys and you too, and cheaper than buying body wash and shampoo seperately

Johnson %26amp; Johnson, although expense, is really good and smells nice.
nice question....will come back to it for the answers....i wanted to knw as well.....dint yet buy this stuff for my baby....

    m 28 weeks long...all the best to u!

  • Were to get a shampoo shield for babies/children?

Hi, Does anyone know where to buy a shampoo shield? It's like a foam ring that goes around childs head to prevent shampoo getting in their eyes/ears when rinsing their hair. Maybe I have the name wrong??? Thanks for the help! Were to get a shampoo shield for babies/children?
I know it is not what you are asking, but just use no tear baby shampoo... I haven't had any problem with my two kids. No tears, redness, etc.

Found some on Amazon by searching for ';shampoo shield';:

I have never heard of such a thing. WOW the things they come out with these days. I use the best and cheapest thing available. IE my hand :)

What kind of shampoo do you use on your babies hair?

I heard that the baby johnsons shampoo is not good to babies hair..so what kind of shampoo do you guys use?

by the way my son is 8 monthsWhat kind of shampoo do you use on your babies hair?
I used the Johnson's oatmeal, but then found that her skin was drying out. So I started restricting her hairwashes to about once a week. The Johnson%26amp;Johnson oatmeal vanilla wash is still what I use and it seems fine. For the rest of her I use the Aveeno gentle wash for allergies. It doesn't have as many bubbles, and so it doesn't dry their skin out as much. But it doesn't seem to rinse out of the hair well.

Her hair seems fine...What kind of shampoo do you use on your babies hair?
I used Johnson's first but the smell got old so I tried Huggies and that's what we've been using. The kind that is all over body wash. My son is 8 months old too and he's only went through 3 bottles of it. That tells you how much hair he has lol. What is bad about Johnson's? That's what the hospitals use...?
I used whatever I got from my shower, including Johnson %26amp; Johnson's, Aveeno, and Huggie's. When I ran out, I just switched to my regular Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo. It's very gentle, even for her, and ecologically friendly. I only use a pea-sized amount, so I'm not really going through it any faster, plus I don't need to remember to pick up any thing extra at the store. I use a wash cloth to remove it from the front of her scalp to keep it from getting in her eyes. I also have to condition, or she gets horrible tangles. I never knew how snarly stick-straight, baby fine hair can get!
babies have hair...? I want one of those babies
I have an 11 month old boy, and I use 'Curash' Shampoo on his hair..

Johnsons shampoo has never interested me, even with the 'no tears' formula. I used the body wash until he was 6 months old, but I decided to use some 'Lavender bed time' soap for his body and 'Curash' Shampoo for his hair.
i did use Johnson's on my son at first but then i read the ingredients label and i was discussed with the amount of chamicals so i only use organice shamopp on my son it si called ';organic instinct'; really good stuff smells great to .. :)

Regular shampoo for 5 month old baby?

can i use this for my baby? i have pantene pro v, VO5.. im at my moms and my girl needs a bath. is this safe? even in minimal amount?Regular shampoo for 5 month old baby?
Yes, i think its safe. Just make sure not to get it in her eyes! Baby shampoos are tear-free, and as we all know, regular shampoos hurt when they get into our eyes. Also, make sure you put some lotion on her when you're done. Regular shampoos are harsher to the skin/scalp/hair.

If you have baby wash you can use that on her head too!Regular shampoo for 5 month old baby?
    Stick with baby shampoo.
why not just run to the grocery store??? when in doubt....

she's five months old... how dirty can she be?
in a pinch, any in a small amount. But use baby shampoo.
For a one-time thing whatever soap you use for her bath can clean her hair too. Just another alternative.
I would just rinse her hair with water...if it gets in her eyes you will have a screaming 5 month old baby!

She can't have that much hair at 5 months!
If it's an emergency that you wash her hair, I guess. I would just keep it away from the eyes.
when we are traveling, my son uses body wash rather than adult shampoo. he does just fine with it
I would not, put a little soda in water, then rinse real well. unless you have a mild soap such as Ivory bar .
no you should go buy some baby shampoo like Johnson%26amp;Johnson. it's safe and won't sting the eyes
As long as you do not allow it to get in her eyes it is ok. Regular shampoo may burn if it gets in her eyes. One of the nurses at Children's Hospital actually told me to use Head %26amp; Shoulders on my son for cradle cap. Just use a very small ammount.
it wouldn't kill her just use very little amounts i used to shower with my l;ittle boy and i used to wash his hair with an adult shampoo but ver little amounts just make sure you use a conditioner because it will dry out their skin

    good luck
it is safe if you don't get it in her eyes, which can be rather hard to do....why don't you go to the store to get baby shampoo? just a lil bottle, or you can just wet her hair today and when you go home, then bathe her....if its just for a day, i'm sure your baby will be fine.....
not on my baby for sure!! ... hopfully not yours too. Water will do just fine if it only a day.
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    Only baby Shampoo.

our shampoo can burn baby's scalp

u can use just warm water to give her a bath....under no sercumstances should you use our soap on baby.
Don't....even at a year old, I tried to start using Cheer instead of Dreft for my child's laundry, and she broke out all over...those tykes just can't handle the chemicals.

Just rinse her off, or run to Walgreens.
I would just use her baby bath or let her hair wait until you get some baby shampoo. It wouldn't be worth the risks. She might have an allergic reaction or accidently get it in her eyes. Better safe than sorry!
I think I would go for Loreal Kids or something like that.
yes you can use it but use a very small amount i use it for my 4 month old daughteri hope she enjoys her bath
I don't think that it will harm your baby but shampoo designed for infants would be more ideal because it is gentle and tear free.

My baby's black hair is turning brown. Any thoughts why? No soap/shampoo. Parents & ancestors have black hair.

Parents and all ancestors are Asian Indian and have black hair. Baby is not exposed to chlorine, bleach, well water or lots of sunlight. No soap or shampoo is used.My baby's black hair is turning brown. Any thoughts why? No soap/shampoo. Parents %26amp; ancestors have black hair.
Some times it just happens that way.... Soap and shampoo are ok to use on baby......My baby's black hair is turning brown. Any thoughts why? No soap/shampoo. Parents %26amp; ancestors have black hair.
it's natural, my hair's like that too so are my mom's and niece's
it can just happen. when i was 2 my hair was blond and i was fat. now i am muscular and have dark brown hair.
just use olive oil and dish soap
the sun might be bleaching it out belive it or not thats very common .... you might want to buy a hair serum to put on her hair that has a uv protection in it!
a babys hair doesnt stay the same and even as they get older it changes my son was born with jet black hari and now has blonde my daughters didnt change in color. its normal and doesnt mean it wont go back black and it could be the sub which is bleaching it. most babies eyse change too.

    Does anyone use baby shampoos?

I heard using baby shampoos and hair care products yields great results. Does anyone know if it's true?Does anyone use baby shampoos?
Well getting baby shampoo in your eyes won't hurt like other shampoo's will but I doubt it makes your hair any cleaner then regular shampoo.Does anyone use baby shampoos?
you can use it, but alternate that and a regular shampoo.

for example use baby shampoo for 5 washes, then 1 wash regular.
Using baby shampoo will make your hair a lot softer, but I don't know if it will get it as clean as you would like.
    yes all the time
I only use it to bathe my cats.
baby shampoo should b used only for babys b/c there is a special ingred. that is made to remove the rest of the cells/blood on the babys head..if we use baby shampoo it will dry the hair out n thats not good
    i dont

I have baby fine hair, what is a good shampoo/conditioner to avoid breakage, do not use hot rolls, irons?

I have very long thin hair and the best shampoo and conditioner I have found for me is Therma Silk.I also do not use dryers or irons ect....I have baby fine hair, what is a good shampoo/conditioner to avoid breakage, do not use hot rolls, irons?
Well there are a lot of good brands dove, gardianas frutas (sp?) but there was this one really good brand I can't remember, if I do I'll add it on to this laterI have baby fine hair, what is a good shampoo/conditioner to avoid breakage, do not use hot rolls, irons?
try sunsilk (you can get it at any grocery store) its very gentle and smells great!

  • Baby getting dark day by day , she was very fair when born. I used olive oil and aveno shampoo.?

I did nt either change the formula. Can any one tell what could be the reason. both parents are fair.we maintain 69-72F temperatureBaby getting dark day by day , she was very fair when born. I used olive oil and aveno shampoo.?
Babies of most races and ethnicities are born with fairly light and often pinkish skin 鈥?the pink tint comes from the red blood vessels, which show through your baby's still-thin skin.

Newborn skin varies in appearance according to how many weeks pregnant you were when your baby was born. Premature babies have thin, transparent-looking skin and may be covered with lanugo, a fine, downy hair. Babies born prematurely will also still be covered with vernix, a greasy white substance that protects his skin from the amniotic fluid. Full-term and late babies will have only a few traces of vernix in the folds of their skin. Late babies may also have a slightly wrinkly appearance and very little, if any, lanugo.

Most parents assume that this pinkish skin colour is their baby's ';original'; complexion and fret when their baby's skin changes or darkens to its ';actual skin tone'; over the next few weeks and well into the first year. Another reason why babies look darker a few days after birth is because they lose water and some weight initially and this can make their skin may appear sallow. However, most babies regain a healthy skin tone (though not necessarily a fair complexion) once a proper feeding pattern is established.

In a country where fair skin is equated with beauty, many pregnant women consume certain foods in the vain hope of delivering fair skinned babies. One such belief is to consume only white coloured foods, such as milk, curd, and rice to have a fair baby. Another is to drink milk or any white coloured food first thing in the morning, yet another is to have milk with a few strands of saffron in it. However, it is important to remember that your baby's skin colour is decided by his genes depending on the race and ethnic group he belongs to and not by what you eat!

In many households, elders advise mothers to massage the babies with raw milk, fresh cream, besan (gram flour) and turmeric paste to ensure a fair and flawless complexion. However, this practice is best avoided as raw milk can carry a host of bacteria and cause infections, such as diarrhoea, dysentery, TB, E.coli and salmonella especially in a new born infant.

Fresh cream tends to make the skin greasy and may cause rashes in summer. Also the abrasive nature of gram flour and turmeric may result in allergies and even bruises.

Some mothers insist on applying lots of powder on their babies to make them fair -- this practice too is best avoided as the powder can cake up on wet skin and cause a lot of irritation and discomfort.

It is essential to understand that a person is beautiful because of what he is and what he does --not because of how he looks or how his skin tone is.

In some cases a baby's skin colour may change due to environmental or health reasons. A baby's skin may look red or flushed due to high temperatures, or he may have a slight pale bluish tinge due to the cold especially if his hands and feet are exposed. Some babies even turn blue or purple due to intense crying. However, if the bluish tinge does not go away after a crying fit, or if your baby has a blue tinge all over his body which does not subside after a few days, it may be a sign of breathing or circulatory problems. Talk to your doctor right away.

Sometimes babies have skin rashes and birthmarks which may need further examination.Baby getting dark day by day , she was very fair when born. I used olive oil and aveno shampoo.?
babies can change all the time. using a product will not change the baby. (light or dark). jaundice can make a baby appear yellow. if you are concerned about something speak to your dr or nurse. there is usually a ';nurse line'; to ask questions. trust me they have heard and seen it all. call them and ask
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking? Many babies who are born with fair skin get darker within a matter of days/weeks. And just b/c both parents are fair skin doesn't mean that the child cannot be picking up some traits from a darker grandparent or whomever. Genetic traits can vary from child to child and follow no set pattern.

I accidently got some shampoo in my babies mouth during her bath?

when i was washing her just now, a few suds got into her mouth. i tried to wipe it out the best i could with her rag, but i'm not sure if i got it all before she might have swallowed some. i read the bottle and it doesn't say anything about ingesting it. will she be ok? what should i do? thanks.I accidently got some shampoo in my babies mouth during her bath?
She will be fine. It happens. Baby shampoo is VERY gentle. I accidently got some shampoo in my babies mouth during her bath?
Baby shampoos are made to be very gentle for the eyes and mouth. If she did not ingest more than a sud or two, I would imagine that she is going to be just fine. If she ingested more than a sud or two, I would recommend calling her doctor or your local poison control hotline just to be on the safe side.
She's fine if it was only a few suds!

Now, if she drank the entire bottle, I'd be a little alarmed -- but I think all of us have tasted soap bubbles before and we're still fine!

Don't worry over it unless she starts vomiting or otherwise acting ill.

    Good luck! %26lt;3
if its baby shampoo its fine just dont let her drink it

you can tell by the babies reaction. if shes laughing then theres nothing wrong inside of her. if shes crying she might have a belly ache. but those shampoos are so sensitive they are mostly water.
If the shampoo's made for babies then your baby should be fine as long as she didn't gulp it down. But from what you said it isn't a big deal.

The people who made it make sure it's safe for babies.
i wouldnt be worried. i caught my son eating a handful of bubbles the other night. he turned around in the tub so he wasnt facing me and started eating them! hes fine.
If it was just a little bit, she should be ok.

I would call poison control just in case for comfort.

Baby might or might not have an upset stomach later.
If its just a few bubbles i wouldnt worry..If she was drinking it from the bottle that would be different.
yes she will be fine! my daughter likes to lick the soapy water and shes fine.. i try to avoid it but sometimes shes too quick!
I'm sure she will be ok
should be fine. if you want look up the disease control number and call them.
just rinse it out real good and give her some water. it's not as harmful as you think
She will be fine, it happens to the best of us.
