Can you use baby shampoo on rabbits?

We think my rabbit is a Netherland Dwarf, and I heard from one of my moms friends... I think, that you can use baby shampoo on rabbits because it is gentle enough is this true? Can you use baby shampoo on rabbits?
Rabbits should only be washed when absolutely necessary (e.g treating skin conditions, messy butt). Bathing is extremely stressful for most rabbits, and can increase the risk of stress induced illness like the deadly and often stress caused GI Stasis. It can also expose them to the risk of ear, eye and respiratory infection. It also removes the natural oils in the coat that the rabbits need to keep them warm, and licking off bits of shampoo left on the coat could upset the sensitive digestive system. Rabbits clean themselves, they do not need to washed, so I would not recommend washing a rabbit unless for a good reason. Can you use baby shampoo on rabbits?
Do not bathe a rabbit with water and shampoo. Rabbits are very clean creatures. They groom themselves. If your housing conditions are creating soiling of the pet's fur, then change your flooring or conditions. If you have a brown soiled spot on a white rabbit, a weak mixture of baking soda and water on the soiled spot may loosen and clean the area after a few days of application. Use a pet rabbit wire brush to clean when dry.
There are differing opinions on this subject. My vet said 'no' when I asked. Human skin (even baby human skin) is 10-15 cells thick. Cats, dogs and bunnies are much thinner skinned. Rabbits and cats should not be bathed unless absolutely necessary and then with shampoo that is appropriate for them (not designed for humans). I heard once that (J%26amp;J) baby shampoo is designed to strip the hair of oil (making it appropriate for washing a dog or cat that's been sprayed by a skunk but not on a regular basis).
Yes. In fact, this is fine for most animals. They make Rabbit, Ferret, Guinea Pig, etc. shampoo, but if you can't find that then it's completely acceptable to use baby shampoo to bathe your pets because it is very gentle.

Good luck!
I use baby shampoo for years on my pets. Never any trouble and vet said it was fine. Only bath animals if is absolutely necessary. Rabbits generally like to have a dust/sand bath, like birds. Maybe look at getting some fine sand for him/her to play in, it's alot better and you don't have to worry!
where did u buy your netherland dwarf?
If it was me, I would go purchase shampoo that was safe to use on kittens or puppies. I would not use shampoos formulated for humans, baby or not.
i use baby shampoo on my kitten. i think its better because animal shampoo has a lot of chemicals and well i think they will nnot do that with baby shanpoo. but if you use puppy or kitten shampoo use natral.
It's true that Johnson's baby shampoo is gentle but idk on rabbits... i can assure you that if you buy shampoo specialty for rabbits only at a pet store would be better choice.
Do NOT bathe rabbits. They will catch a chill and die.

Rabbits keep themselves clean and do not need to be bathed. Also it is not natural for them to get wet or be in water so they will fight it and can end up either stressed out terribly or can brak a bone. Their spines are especially fragile.
