Did you know baby shampoo has formaldehyde in it?

Its called Quaternium-15.It's a formaldehyde releaser. look it up get informed..I thought you all would like to know that don't know already.Did you know baby shampoo has formaldehyde in it?
Thank you for the important information.

Many people are too ignorant to be inclined to research this.

[8] Formaldehyde is classified as a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which provides sufficient evidence that formaldehyde causes nasopharyngeal cancer in humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.[11] Formaldehyde (e.g. Quaternium-15, imidazolidinyl urea, and diazolidinyl urea).

has been banned in cosmetics in both Sweden and Japan, as well as many more countries.

As for the ';it would have been removed if dangerous argument';-

Unfortunately, many drug manufacturers, driven by money, will streamline test information and downplay or conceal adverse side effects found in their studies in an effort to speed up FDA approval. Furthermore, once the FDA is reviewing the drug, they fail to conduct adequate follow-up research or don't have enough time to perform a rigorous screening of the product, which may lead to the approval of defective drugs. Many researchers who publish the findings of clinical drug trials are not given all the data available, which can lead to a skewed safety profile about the drug.

Here's some examples of chemical compound containg drugs that have been released. Wonder what specific chemical causes this? Wonder why they still allow them to be used?

Accutane 鈥?a drug used for severe acne that has been found to cause birth defects and serious psychological side effects

Crestor 鈥?a cholesterol-lowering drug that had been found to cause acute kidney failure and a life threatening muscle condition called rhabdomyolysis.

Bextra 鈥?a painkiller that increases the risks of heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems; also poses the risk of a serious adverse drug reaction called Steven's Johnson Syndrome

Serevent 鈥?an asthma medication that may increase the risk of asthma related deaths and other life-threatening incidents

Meridia 鈥?a weight-loss pill that has been found to increase blood pressure, cause cardiovascular problems, and even death

If you look up the information on Johnson%26amp;Johnson baby shampoos containing Quaternim-15 you will find these listings:

Chronic Health Effects: No information provided.

Carcinogenicity: MSDS: No information provided.

Here are some disturbing facts:

A product that kills 5-% of lab animals through ingestion or inhalation can still receive the federal regulatory designation non-toxic . Of the 17,000 chemicals that appear in common household products, only 30% have been adequately tested for their negative effects on our health; less than 10% have been tested for their effect on the nervous system; and nothing is known about the combined effects of these chemicals when mixed within our bodies. No law requires manufacturers to list the exact ingredients on the package label. Personal care product refers to just about anything we use to clean our bodies or make ourselves look or smell good. The closest thing to a regulatory agency for the personal care industry is the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and their power is extremely limited.

Here are more unsettling facts regarding personal care products:

The FDA cannot regulate a personal care product until after it is released into the marketplace. Neither personal care products nor their ingredients are reviewed or approved before they are sold to the public.

The FDA cannot require companies to do safety testing on their personal products before they are sold to the public.

The FDA cannot require recalls of harmful personal care products from the marketplace.

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and health (NIOSH) analyzed 2983 chemicals used in personal care products. The results were as follows:

884 of the chemicals were toxic

314 caused biological mutation

218 caused reproductive complications

778 caused acute toxicity

148 caused tumors

376 caused skin and eye irritations.

Quaternium-15 is a preservative found in many cosmetics and industrial substances that acts as a formaldehyde releaser.

A formaldehyde releaser is a chemical compound that slowly releases formaldehyde.

It can cause contact dermatitis.Did you know baby shampoo has formaldehyde in it?
yes but it's no big deal

its not harmful or anything

that's why it's in there
yes yes yes.

so what.
I am a mortician, so I have a little knowledge on this. The ingredient you list is not formaldehyde specifically, it is a quateranary ammonium compound, which helps formaldehyde do it's job. It is in no way related to formaldehyde. Quats (as we call them) are cleaning and sanitizing agents and that's probably why they are in shampoos. I have had this stuff spilled on me, inhaled it (on accident of course) etc. and have never had a problem with it. It's no worse for you than rubbing alcohol. Just try not to ingest it.
yip there are tons of chemicals in baby shampoos, bath soaps etc.. even in Johnson and Johnson.. and that is suppose to be a favorite but i wont use any of those

try aubrey organics they are 100% natural with no chemicals in it .. you can find them online and in health food stores
I'm doing okay... my mom used baby shampoo on me. I'm 33, haven't had the flu since I was 19, and get maybe one cold a year. I'm thinking if this was really a big deal, it would be taken out of products. This is just another excuse to get people scared.
That could also be found in mascara-eyeliner-Moisturizer-lotion-self tanning products-nail polish-lubricants-SOAPS-BODY WASH- As you said baby shampoo and lotion-Facial Cleanser-sunscreen-powder-shaving products-ointments- personal wipes and cleaners-wipes-paper-inks-paints- polishes-waxes and industrial lubricants. Adhesive-glues-and disinfectants
Okay.... thanks?

Obviously if it caused any harm it wouldn't be in shampoos any more.
Yes, I did know that already.

I figure that its been used for generations and so far there are no links to it being harmful, so I plan to continue using it.
Yes, I knew that. I used a little plain glycerin soap on my kid's heads.
