Why not just use regular dog shampoo? Can i use johnson baby shampoo for my dog?if not what alternative?
I tried the baby shampoo and it caused the skin to be very dry as the Ph is not ideal for dogs.
If the dog is really dirty buy a decent dog shampoo and use a tiny amount (just enough to lather) and wash the dog.. If it isn't so dirty just use a little conditioner (for humans) and rub that over the dog and rinse thoroughly.
I have 2 show dog dobermanns and we only use conditioner as they are never that dirty.
Make bath time fun and it should be good for you and the dog!Can i use johnson baby shampoo for my dog?if not what alternative?
Yes you can! A human's ph skin level is around a 4 or 5 so regular human shampoo would not be good for your dog, but baby shampoo has a ph level of 7 because that's the same as human eyes so the babies wont tear up. Anyway the reason this is relevant is because a dog skin ph level is about 6.8 and baby shampoo would be perfect for a dog, though I don't know if it would help at all with fleas, but it would be very good for the dog's skin.
interesting huh?
Not only can you use Johnson Baby Shampoo on your dog, but it will apparently kill your dog's fleas!!!

Johnson Baby Shampoo will kill fleas on your dog. We had a real bad flea outbreak this week, I had no idea how badly my male was infested out in the kennel. I was desperate and I know liquid soaps will smother fleas usually.
I didn't want to bath my dogs in Dawn, or other shampoos so I decided if baby shampoo was safe for a newborn, it couldn't hurt my dogs, not to mention I didn't want it burning their eyes.
I really didn't expect it to do the job it did. After wetting my dog, I squeezed a line of Johnson baby shampoo from the top of his head to his rump, I smeared it around a little to keep it from running, then I squeezed out more in my hand and started under his neck, I worked from his head to his rump.
I was amazed let me tell you, I rubbed and scratched and worked up a good lather, I saw dead fleas dropping everywhere, I did not see one flea crawling.
He was in such bad shape I bathed him twice. I told my husband I was so ashamed that he had gotten that infested and we didn't even notice.
Anyway, after a good rinse, and I do mean a really good rinse. I pulled him out of the tub, towel dried him and ran the flea comb through his fur, I pulled out fleas, but not one was living.
I ended up bathing all five of my grown Bostons and six puppies. They all had a few fleas, but not one flea lived through the Johnson's Baby Shampoo.
I believe it is very important to rinse them well, even something as gentle as baby shampoo can dry the skin out.
I have been walking around with a flea comb in my pocket so I can do a constant check. We are in the process of treating all the area so the dogs are staying close to the house.
We haven't quite figured out the best yard treatment yet. We want something safe and effective.

Yes you can. In fact, something about the ingredients is somewhat repellant to fleas. It's good for bathing puppies or kittens that have fleas in, so that the fleas can be rinsed out and combed out and yet is gentle enough on their skin.
It's great that there are now dog shampoos of all kinds.
Bottom line, the shampoo will not harm your dog. Just rinse well as with any bath.
Paul Mitchell makes a line of dog shampoos, conditioners, lots of dog grooming aides. He is a big time animal lover. He never uses animals to test any product he makes, human stuff, too. They smell great, are very gentle. It doesn't seem to irritate my dog's eyes if I get splash any in their face.
It is better to use an all natural dog shampoo. Check with your local pet store for the type that suits your dogs hair/skin. Dry skin--mellaluca oil is great. White dogs--blueing shampoo etc
How about dog shampoo?
If you are in a pinch use dish soap. The perfumes in human shampoo causes dry skin and rashes in many dogs. In warm climates, it can even promote fleas
If very urgent, and you have'nt dog shamppo you can use johnson baby shampoo.
Just go to a local pet store and buy some dog shampoo.
Not sure about the johnson baby shampoo, so I would play it safe.
that shampoo is just fine and hypoallergenic. I had to use it onn my sensitive skinned schnauzer!
You can use it but why not just buy dog shampoo.. its formulated for them
my vet told me that baby shampoo was good for puppies, also it smells yummy!
